“It is a great honor to meet you, sir,” Chaim said.
“You know this man?” Lucius asked.
“Only by reputation,” Chaim said. “He owned the tomb where Yeshua was buried until he rose from the dead.”
“But not like those things in Jerusalem, right?” Lucius said.
“I didn’t believe the news at first either,” Joseph said. “Then I saw him with my own eyes. You too, Lucius, are about to see things you never imagined were real.”
“I killed a monster with a holy splinter,” Lucius said. “I’m inclined to be a bit more open-minded about these matters.”
They arrived in Alexandria, and Lucius followed Joseph’s cart to a familiar location—Pharos Island, where they walked the rest of the way to the Lighthouse.
A narrow staircase at the base led to a door with no handle. Kamali uttered a spell to open it, and Lucius, Chaim, Isaac, and Joseph carried the Ark into a small chamber.
Isaac removed the covering, and the gold surface of the Ark reflected the light of the torches, filling the chamber with a brilliant glow.
“You’re keeping it here?” Lucius asked, and the others laughed.
“The real Library is far below us,” Joseph said, “safe from discovery or destruction.”
“You said we had a choice to make,” Chaim said. “What is it?”
“The world is filled with treasures like this,” Isaac said. “We want you two to search the world for them.”
“Kamali,” Lucius said. “Is this our destiny?”
The Oracle smiled and nodded.
