Siannon’s Promise

The final words from a dying old man.

A cryptic message written thousands of years ago.
The call to fulfill a promise pledged in sacrifice.
These are the events that set Dylan, Siannon, and Kane Ellesmere on a quest to find an ancient treasure that holds the key to bringing Penwik, the exiled magician who started the Norse war in Llanfyllin, to justice. Their journey takes them far from their island kingdom to locations and adventures throughout Europe, leading them to a discovery beyond their imagination and new allies in their race to stop Penwik before he brings the world to an end.

The final chapter in the Dylan and Siannon trilogy offers readers of all ages a cast of familiar favorites along with a host of new characters in a tale of magic, mystery, and miracles.
The Spring of Llanfyllin
Dylan and Siannon Ellesmere are the rulers of Macnylleth, the most
remote province in Llanfyllin. They are awakened during a blizzard by an approaching fleet of Norsemen. As they prepare to meet the invaders, they become separated. Siannon must take command of the people of Macnylleth, while Dylan escapes by sea with a few brave companions. As they journey throughout their frozen homeland, they find the Norse at every turn, and their only hope is to travel to the capital city of Llanfyllin. While they fight to survive, they ask why these fierce warriors from the North risked everything to invade their small nation in the dead of winter. That question leads to an ancient secret from the founding of the kingdom, and their only salvation lies in a desperate journey to Siannon’s home nation of Ireland to find a magical savior even more dangerous than the Norse themselves.
Dylan’s Treasure
When Dylan Ellesmere reluctantly returns to his father’s castle for the annual knight’s tournament, a mysterious woman from across the sea inspires him to risk everything to win the tournament as well as her heart. Dylan would like nothing more than to stay home in Macnylleth, his stony castle on the edge of the western sea. But family obligations demand he take part in the tournament that is the highlight of the Festival of Weylin. This year’s tournament, however, features an unprecedented participant—Siannon O’Riordan, a fast and ferocious lady knight clad in black armor, the first woman ever allowed to take part. Those who dismiss her chances are soon amazed by her skill and speed. So is Dylan, but he’s also enchanted by her beauty, her mind and her determination. Can the course of true love endure an inevitable confrontation in the tournament arena?

Reviews
A wonderfully crisp snapshot of life in the Middle Ages. Sanders loves his characters and knows them intimately. This book will delight young and not-so-young readers in every way.
Edward Zink
Set in the Kingdom of Llanfyllin, which seems to be located somewhere in Europe during the Middle Ages, Mark Sanders' debut novel, Dylan’s Treasure, is a charming tale of knighthood, tournament events, and a bit of magic and romance. Don't let that last word scare you away, though — like The Princess Bride, this “kissing book” is a delight.

The world Sanders has created smacks of realism and sucks the reader in. Dylan's ordeal throughout the novel sets his heritage against the man he wants to be. A brilliant simple and straightforward tale of family, love, and some good ol' swordplay. Beautifully written and well worth a read.
