Llanfyllin is a place of fiction. When I created the Kingdom of Llanfyllin, I used the geography of Wales, along with its multitude of mellifluous place names, as the starting point for my imagination. While many of the places mentioned exist in some form in real life, none of them are meant to evoke any kind of historical or geographical accuracy. The people, place, and events of my stories originated in my imagination; I hope they find a home in your own.
The Kingdom of Llanfyllin was founded in the 10th Century A.D. by King Edmund Ellesmere, known as “The Protector,” when he united all the Welsh nobles and knights under the banner of the Ellesmere clan. The capital of the kingdom and its most majestic symbol is Ellesmere Keep in the capital city of Llanfyllin, a grand castle that seems to emerge from within the mountain surrounding it.

The king is advised by his seven provincial leaders, called “Kims” in their native Welsh language, as well as a council of ministers appointed to oversee the various functions of the government.

Llanfyllin celebrates The Festival of Weylin each year at the beginning of spring to commemorate the victory of King Edmund over an army of invading Celts. People from each kimdom journey to the capital to take part in the festival, whose primary purpose is the Tournament of Warriors.

Llanfyllin’s current king is Malcolm Finn Ellesmere. He has three sons: Quinn, Kim Wrexham, heir to the throne; Kane, Kim Caernarvon; and Dylan, Kim Macnylleth.
