Chapter Seven: Confused

“How do you know the book is in Ellesmere Keep?” Bryn asked.
“I don’t precisely,” Aidan said. “The page in the grimoire said to ‘seek knowledge in the seat of power.’”
“That could be anywhere, couldn’t it?” Beca said. “If it’s old enough, it could be talking about London, or even Rome.”
“It’s the Llanfyllin Magician’s Guild, so it will be in Llanfyllin’s capitol,” Aidan said. “Besides, it’s not the book itself but instructions on how to find the book.”
“Why so complicated?” Bryn asked.
“Because it’s invisible.”
“I’m confused,” Beca said. “The book of true invisibility is invisible itself? How are we supposed to find an invisible book?”
“That’s what the book in Ellesmere Keep is supposed to tell us,” Aidan said.
“Why is this so important to you, Aidan?” Bryn asked.
“All my life has been people telling me what I can’t do,” he said. “When I was hungry, I asked for food, and people said no. When I stole food to eat, the magistrate arrested me and told me I couldn’t steal. Life in the guild is the same way; no, you can’t cast a spell like that, no, you can't leave your room after ten, no, you can’t make yourself truly invisible. I want to prove to these old magicians that they don’t know everything about magic.”
“They tell us not to use destructive magic,” Beca said. “But it’s what we’re best at.”
“Exactly!” Aidan said. “What’s the point of magic if you can’t use it?”
