Chapter 15: Rebellion

Every student in Llanfyllin, magical or not, knew the history of Tel’Silderan. Founded by elves more than ten thousand years before, they destroyed several European ships in the late 1400s to keep themselves isolated from human contact.
A ship captain named Eila Ellesmere was among the first to contact a group of elven exiles in the north. These exiles formed the core of the rebellion against the Ohtari, the ruling elite who kept the elves isolated and oppressed.
Aided by Llanfyllin’s dragons, the exiles overthrew the Ohtari, and Eila led a new era of exchange and cooperation between humans and elves. Portals were the most dramatic contribution to this new relationship, but since all elves were magical, they taught human magicians a host of new abilities.
As a result, the trio were not completely confused in the city of Silvanthel, nor were they seen as unwelcome intruders. The number of humans in the city made them unremarkable, and they slipped away into the crowds rushing along the streets.
They didn’t have to look long to find a shop that sold the elements of a magic potion, as such things were common in Silvanthel. Bryn cast a language spell upon them so they could be understood by the proprietor, and they entered the shop.
The shelves were filled with minerals, herbs, and ingredients for sale that in Llanfyllin were kept locked away in cabinets. Aidan consulted the book while Beca held a small basket to collect the ingredients they needed.
